In our Unity of London, we have designed our service in a similar fashion, again due to the diverse backgrounds of our members, adherents, and visitors. Ours is an open philosophy, and by that we mean, the people who come and who even become regular attendees, do not have to give up their relationship or ties to other churches; for we understand that we may not even be their home church. We love them no matter where or how they worship. We have a lovely greeting said to the visitors, "We feel that you are but a stranger once, and then you become a treasured friend!"
Song #43 * [From "Wings of Song" hymnal] "We Come to Thee O Lord, in silent prayer. Our hearts to Thee; Our hearts to Thee. Are open now. Amen. Amen." |
***** | WELCOME & OPENING STATEMENT
After the Platform Leader welcomes our members and guests, we present the guests with a welcome package, including a Guest Ribbon so others will greet them personally after the service. Then we recite our Opening Statement: There is only One Presence, and One Power, Active in the Universe and in my Life. God the Good, Omnipotent! This is followed by a group of, perhaps, 3 songs, from our hymnal [songbook]. After these songs, the children depart for the Children's Church [or Sunday School], which is held in a room up on the third floor. |
SONGA song follows, perhaps from Wings of Song or special music. On the first and third Sundays, the children and teachers then depart for Children's Church. |

DAILY WORD READING

Of up-coming events, bookstore news, special speakers. The speaker is now introduced, and he/she will then lead us in meditation. |
MUSIC FOR MEDITATIONTo quiet ourselves, prepare to centre our hearts and minds on the Christ within. |
MEDITATION*****************The speaker leads the congregation in stilling our minds and bodies, speaking affirmations or visualizations to lead us to our Christ centre where we can connect with God in the Silence. |
LESSON
The speaker for the week shares on a timely topic, to teach and inspire
us. Soon, in the fullness of time, we shall have a minister. Thank you
God!
SONG Generally, a song in harmony with the lesson will be chosen. | ||
BLESSING OR TITHES AND OFFERINGS
Before gathering the offerings, we ask each person to hold their offering in their hands and to repeat the blessing below. This is a wonderful opportunity for people to demonstrate the Law of Giving and Receiving--for it is only when we give that we will be able to receive. Envelopes are provided for people who wish to receive an Income Tax form at the end of the year.
CENTRE BLESSING
The leader or the president of our church will then lead the audience in repeating the blessing for the Unity of London, which follows. This ministry is divinely guided and prospered. As we dwell in the consciousness of Eternal Love, we draw to ourselves those whom we can bless and those from whom we can receive a blessing. All things come together easily and in perfect order. Thank you God. |
CLOSING
We join hands across the aisles and sing "Let There Be Peace on Earth" followed by the "Prayer for Protection". After the service, we serve simple refreshments and enjoy fellowship
with our fellow travellers along the Quest for spiritual unfolding. We
also can go to the Bookstore to obtain books on various subjects and Unity
information.
