 SHARING

Why We Share

In all Unity Basics 1 classes, sharing is an important part of the class work. The purpose
of sharing is multifaceted. Sharing is for:

  • People to develop the ability to listen and really hear other people, and to benefit from their sharing.
  • People to acknowledge their wins in life and get recognized for them.
  • People to recognize the negative and self-defeating patterns in their lives and start moving away from those experiences.
Group Guidelines

     1. All information shared in group is confidential.

     2. We recognize that love is listening, and we agree to listen with an open heart, to
give mutual support and to practice non-judgemental listening and sharing.

     3. We are here to heal ourselves. We are not here to give advice or to change
anyone's beliefs or behaviour. Being accepted as we are makes it easier for us to
accept rather than to judge others.

     4. We share from our own experience. By risking and exposing our own emotional
state, we find common experience that allows for joining.

     5. We respect ourselves and each other as unique. We recognize that each person's
process is important, not our judgement of it, and that each of us knows oneself
     better than anyone else.

     6. We support one another's inner guidance. We let other people find their own
     answers.

     7. We practice being present with others, seeing only the light and not the lampshade.

     8. We agree to share fully using economy in that sharing, being mindful of the need
     for all to participate.

     9. We agree to be mindful of when someone is or is not complete with their shared
     feelings.

     10. We agree to support another's process by refraining from interrupting or touching.

     11.  All information shared in group is confidential.

How to Support Sharing and Maximize Listening

  • As sharing begins, centre yourself in love and compassion.
  • Be aware of the precious gift you are being given when someone has the courage to share himself or herself.
  • Make the space for sharing without categorizing what you are hearing as positive, negative, good, or bad.
  • Be sensitive to the Divinity underneath the roles and games we set up.
  • Be sensitive to the amount of class time you spend in sharing.
